Our Charitable Wing - Reaching out with Compassion
|
| The hospital caters to the poor and needy through its charitable wing of NU Trust. This wing plays a pivotal role in sourcing donors for patients in need of healthy organs, through its widespread network of contacts.
NU Trust is actively involved in several community outreach activities on an ongoing basis such as the organising of free health camps, convening of seminars on the prevention of nephro-urology disorders and giving back to the industry and society by providing the best of its knowledge and service resources. |
Subsidised Care |
To the thousands of less privileged patients diagnosed with renal disease, long-term care involves enormous expense, especially for haemodialysis as well as transplant and its post-operative care. With assistance from the government, and private sponsors, needy patients are provided treatment either at subsidised cost or even totally free, with funds collected from donors. The main criterion to be eligible for subsidised care at NU Trust is economic need, determined both by the doctors as well as the medico-social workers at the hospital.

Outreach Dialysis Centres
|
| Specialised care for renal failure is generally available only in a speciality hospital, usually situated in the bigger cities or state capitals. Patients in other areas – especially the rural areas – usually need to move to these big cities, forsaking either employment or family care or both.
NU Trust realised this need, and also the fact that similar care could be provided at a fraction of the cost involved, and set out to install Outreach Dialysis Centres in different parts of the state of Karnataka. NU Trust has been a pioneer in establishing such rural-based dialysis centres.
So far, over 4,500 haemodialysis procedures have been performed at these centres. The quality of care and the training is constantly supervised and updated by a team of doctors at NU Trust. This has greatly helped patients in far-flung parts of the state, who can now avail state-of-the-art care without undertaking the additional expenses and inconvenience of having to travel to Bangalore seeking reliable nephro-urology care. |
